NEET, JEE-Mains examinations postponed till 31 July

The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development has postponed the medical and engineering entrance examinations of NEET and JEE till 31 July in view of the fast growing cases of Covid-19 cases.
The decision has been taken on the advice of a four-member committee set up to review the possibility of conducting examinations in July. Union Human Resource Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' said, keeping in mind the safety of students and the quality of education, we have decided to postpone JEE and NEET examinations.

The JEE-Main exam will be held from September 1 to 6, while the JEE Advanced exam will be on September 27. NEET exam will be held on 13 September. The engineering and medical entrance examinations were first postponed to May 5 as the nationwide lockdown was announced to prevent the spread of corona virus infection.
Medical entrance exam NEET was scheduled to be held on 26 July and JEE-Mains on 18 to 23 July. The JEE-Advanced exam to be taken by the Indian Institute of Technology was to be held on 23 August. Parents and students were campaigning to postpone the examinations in view of Covid-19. According to a ministry official, the committee felt that the examinations were certain to be postponed as many examination centers were located in prohibited areas and the safety of students was the first priority of the government. However, this delay is likely to affect the accounting of the academic year. According to media reports, counseling for NEET and JEE will begin in October.
